Health hack ~ feeding once a day!
Inspired by intermittent fasting in laboratory rodents showing that it can lead to better health, emerging research suggests that feeding dogs once a day benefits health and longevity.
Most interesting take-away:
- dogs fed once daily have lower odds of developing cognitive dysfunction*
- compared to dogs fed more frequently, dogs fed once a day have lower odds of multiple diseases** ~ including gastrointestinal, dental, orthopaedic, kidney/urinary and liver/pancreas disorders
It's important to note that feeding frequency should be tailored to each dog's unique needs.
Some senior dogs and those with certain health conditions may require more frequent meals to support their bodies’ needs. Dogs in poor health may need to eat more frequently
Puppies up till 15 months of age should be fed at least twice a day.
